Hi, I’m Laura Grefke—a photographer, mother of two, and proud MiMi to three sweet granddaughters. After losing my husband when my daughters were young, they became my greatest inspiration, and photographing children has held a very special place in my heart ever since. Life taught me early how quickly moments pass, and that understanding shapes everything I capture through my lens.

Photography runs deep in my family. My father worked as a high-speed photographer at Ford and later opened a picture frame shop with my mother—where I landed my very first job and truly fell in love with the art of photography. Inspired by photographers like Ansel Adams, I believe every image is a moment we’re meant to capture. As he so perfectly said,
“Sometimes I arrive just when God’s ready to have someone click the shutter.”

I began my photography journey with a simple point-and-shoot camera, but my skills quickly outgrew that level of equipment. I invested in a camera that was easy to use, absolutely beautiful, and one I truly love. Friends and family took a leap of faith in me, trusting me to capture their most meaningful moments—and with that encouragement, Laura Grefke Photography was created. I love capturing both the simple, everyday moments and life’s biggest milestones. From newborns and first-year cake smashes to graduating seniors, maternity sessions, engagements, families, and weddings—each session is approached with care, creativity, and heart. Many of the families I’ve photographed over the years have become dear friends, and that connection means everything to me.

One day, while going through old photos of my daughters, I printed an image of my youngest with her dad. She was just five and a half years old at the time. She later shared this message:
“No words can explain how happy I am to have this picture! I didn’t even know it existed until my mom printed it. I have another picture from the same night, but you can’t see my dad’s face. Thanks, Mom!”
That moment reinforced something I believe with all my heart: you don’t always know the true value of a moment until it becomes a memory.
